Vegas had the Vikings as 7 1/2 point dogs vs the Saints.  Everybody on Fox picked them to lose.  Everybody on ESPN Countdown (including Randy Moss) picked them to lose.  Yours truly thought they would lose.

Kirk Cousins notched his first real signature win by slinging a pair of throws in overtime to drop the Saints 26-20 and leave the Superdome crowd of 73,038 in stunned silence, Kirk Cousins had his first playoff victory.

He dropped a 43-yard throw to Adam Thielen just beyond Patrick Robinson’s coverage on the seventh play of overtime, giving the Vikings the ball at the Saints 2. Then, after Dalvin Cook was stuffed on a pair of runs, Cousins stepped away from a six-man blitz, floating a fade to Kyle Rudolph in the back of the end zone.  The pass didn't go without controversy as the replay appeared to show a "push off" by Kyle Rudolph.  In normal Viking playoff folklore that touchdown call would've been reversed.  Thankfully, the replay official decided it wasn't warranted.

Minnesota will now face the #1 seed San Francisco on Saturday afternoon.  They will once again be huge underdogs.  Ironically these teams do have some playoff history.  In 1987 the Vikings led by QB Wade Wilson went into New Orleans and beat the Saints 44-10.  The Vikes then played at San Francisco and shocked the 49ers 36-24.  That win sent the Vikings to the NFC Championship game just like this Saturday's game would.
