Wentz and Eagles Lose to Vikings
The Eagles were constantly trailing from behind in a game in which the Vikings seemed to be one step ahead the whole way through.
Linval Joseph's fumble return gave the Vikings a 10-3 lead late in the first half and they never looked back. An Adam Thielen 3-yard touchdown just before halftime gave the Vikings breathing room with a 17-3 lead.
Carson Wentz brought the Eagles close in the fourth quarter when Wendall Smallwood scored on a 12-yard pass in the corner of the end zone to make it 20-14. But the Vikings would put together a drive to get a 52-yard field goal from Dan Bailey and make it 23-14 with just under three minutes remaining.
Wentz would hit Zach Ertz on a 7-yard touchdown to make it 23-21 with just over a minute remaining, but the Eagles would not get the ball back.
The Vikings move to 2-2-1 and the Eagles are now 2-3.
Carson Wentz was 24 for 35 and 311 yards with two touchdowns. Kirk Cousins went 30 of 37 for 301 yards and a touchdown in the win.
The Eagles will play in New York against the Giants on Thursday night while the Vikings will host the Arizona Cardinals next Sunday at noon.
