Biologists at Yellowstone National Park are reportedly considering "thinning the herd" of area bison by allowing the killing of 600 to 800 of the animals.

A Montana Department of Livestock official is floating a proposal to allow hunting of bison inside the park to keep their numbers "in check."

MSN News reports area cattle ranchers are concerned about the spread of disease that could result from excess growth of the bison population.
