100 Most Dangerous U.S.Cities – Are ND And MN On This List?
I know what you might be thinking, there is no way any North Dakota city would be on this list
I hear you, but you might be surprised. This is a list of the top 100 Most Dangerous Cities In The U.S. compiled by neighborhoodscout.com After reading the factors they determined to make up this list, I immediately thought "There is no way Bismarck or Mandan will be on here" After all, I KNOW we are relatively safe.
So then what was their research based on?
What were some of the factors that they based their research on? According to neighborhoodscout.com "Our research reveals the 100 most dangerous cities in America with 25,000 or more people, based on the number of violent crimes per 1,000 residents. Violent crimes include rape, armed robbery, and aggravated assault. The data used for this research are the number of violent crimes reported to have occurred in each city, and the population of each city" I personally can't remember the last time I heard of rape reported here in BisMan.
So what would you guess is the most dangerous city in North Dakota?
If you said Fargo you would be correct - travelsafe.com released their top 10:
- Fargo (Cass County)
- Wahpeton (Richland County)
- Mandan (Morton County)
- Williston (Williams County)
- Grand Forks (Grand Forks County)
- Jamestown (Stutsman County)
- Bismarck (Burleigh County)
- Devils Lake (Ramsey County)
- Minot ( Ward County )
- Valley City ( Barnes County )
None of the above made the Top 100, but one city fairly close to ND did...
36. Minneapolis, MN
- Violent Crime Rate (per 1,000 residents): 13.4
- Chance of being a victim: 1 in 74
Sadly that didn't surprise me at all.
