Some of our friends on the lunatic fringe right are taking our junior senator to task for not scheduling any good ol' fashioned All-American, Norman Rockwellesque "town hall meetin's" during the August recess.

(It should be noted that neither Rep. Kevin Cramer nor Senator John Hoeven have any in-person town halls scheduled either.)

OK, let's get it straight: Town-hall meetings are meaningless -  totally for show. So why are the wingnuts in my adopted home state all over Sen. Heitkamp's case for not having one? "She's all over social media," they say. Well, duh - that's where the people are! At least the people under ninety and not to the right of, say, Louis XIV (you know it's bad when you're say, John McCain, hosting a town hall meeting and you're actually the YOUNGEST person there)...

Town hall meetings are live drive-in movies: a quaint throwback to a simpler, pastoral America.  And totally irrelevant today.  Though I suppose I'd be more "into" the whole experience if more meetings were like this (NSFW)...
