Commentary: Why I Won’t Miss Bachmann

In the wake of scandal and slipping popularity, Minnesota Congressperson Michelle Bachmann (she with the goo-goo googly eyes) has announced she will not seek another term (story from the Minneapolis Star-Tribune)

Speaking as someone who believes strongly in less government, lower taxes and greater individual autonomy, let me say this: I'm glad to see her go.

With her anti-intellectualism, crackpot populism, and shameless pandering to the religious lunatic fringe, she has helped make the fiscal conservative/civil libertarian movement into a laughing stock.

She and her TP'er pals have set back the cause by decades.

Weep not for Ms. Bachmann; I'm sure she'll pick up a slot at Fox "News" where she can continue doing what she does best: pandering to boobous americanus.  She'll make more dough there than she ever could in Congress.  Well, legally at least.

So long Shelly, and good riddance...
