The alleged shooter in last week's multiple killings in an El Paso, Texas WalMart has confessed.

The Washington Post reports the suspect told investigators we was in fact the shooter and he was targeting "Mexicans" before he surrendered to the police.

The Post says a police detective wrote in an arrest warrant affidavit that 21 year-old Patrick W. Crusius had confessed to the killings after officers saw him get out of his car with his hands in the air.

(A copy of the affidavit is linked here.)

Law enforcement officials say Mr. Crusius authored a statement posted online shortly before the attack that decried a “Hispanic invasion of Texas.”

Federal officials have called the attack domestic terrorism and are considering filing hate crime charges.

A few hours after the El Paso shooting a gunman in Dayton, Ohio carried out another shooting rampage, killing nine people before being taken down by police bullets.
