Happy Independence Day, Bismarck-Mandan (technically, tomorrow, I know)! It's Friday, and it's time to start a new week of celebrating local heroes. This week is actually the final week of First Responder Recognition. Meet police officer, Ryan M.

The person who nominated Ryan M. thinks a lot of him. Though Ryan is a new police officer for the Burleigh County Sheriff's Office, he's been in law enforcement for some time. Before he was hired at the Burleigh County Sheriff's Office, Ryan was a member of the Stark County Sheriff's Department as well as in the Army National Guard.

Ryan isn't only a passionate officer, he is a great role model and he is always willing to help others. And the passion for being a police officer runs in the family. Ryan's father was a police officer, and now Ryan's own son is also a police officer in Dickinson.

Thank you to Ryan M. for being a hero in the communities you have served. And congratulations on the move to the Burleigh County Sheriff's Office!

***This week (week of July 4) will be our final week for the hero spotlight of First Responder Recognition. We will wrap up our celebration of heroes next Firiday (July 10) with our monthly winner. The winner of First Responder Recognition will win a food gift card from Bismarck Heating & Air, as well as gift cards from Peacock Alley and 40 Steak & Seafood. Thank you to all the heroes whose stories we have featured over the past few months.
