Mandan Man on Trial For Killing Punch
MANDAN, N.D. (AP) — A man accused of having a deadly punch is on trial in Mandan.
Twenty-three-year-old Colten Towry is accused of manslaughter in the death a year ago of 30-year-old Derek Oshkeshequoam at a party in Mandan. Authorities allege Towry struck Oshkeshequoam during a fight, and Oshkeshequoam later died of head injuries.
Prosecutor Brian Grosinger and defense attorney Ken Morrow say there is no dispute that Towry threw a punch. Grosinger told jurors that they have to decide "what does it mean?"
The two men who rented the home left Oshkeshequoam at a hospital emergency room the next day. They were charged with reckless endangerment. Joseph Houle pleaded guilty earlier and was sentenced to serve six months in jail. Christopher Vernon faces a November trial.
