Sanford Hospital to Restrict Patient Visitors Due to the Flu
This year's flu season is one of the worst we've seen and Sanford Health wants to help limit it spreading further.
Beginning Jan. 25, Sanford in Bismarck will restrict visitor's to immediate family only as long as they are showing no signs of respiratory illness. According to Sanford Health, immediate family includes a patient’s spouse or significant other, in-laws, parents, grandparents and siblings.
The visitor restriction policy will remain in place until further notice.
According to the North Dakota Department of Health's flu website, there have been 2,520 reported cases of the flu across the state including 146 hospitalizations and 10 deaths in the week ending Jan. 13.
There have likely been even more flu cases than that as not everyone with the flu sees a doctor or reports their illness.
