Strangling Stepdad in Stir

A Bismarck man is accused of trying to strangle his teenage stepson during an argument.

Authorities say the mother of the 13-year-old boy reported Wednesday evening that her son had been choked and was not breathing.  Police charged 46-year-old Paul Shumpert with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, child abuse and child neglect - all Class C felonies.
