The gas prices for holiday travel are the highest since 2008. You'll notice the gas prices locally in Bismarck have jumped 20 cents in the last 2 weeks. According to the USA Today-

Prices will average about $3.68 a gallon for regular grade gas,  up 17 cents from last year but well below the all-time $4.11 record set just after July 4, 2008. Overall gas prices for the first half of 2014 are expected to average $3.52 a gallon, down 5 cents from the first half of 2013 and 12 cents cheaper than the first six months of 2012, when gasoline averaged $3.64

This is a fact that I know being a Louisianan, when hurricane season rolls around, the gas prices always jump due to the fear of storms in the Gulf of Mexico. Then you have the fear of the turmoil in the Middle East. So many factors that will dig deep into your pocket book this holiday weekend.

Locally, according to GasBuddy, the cheapest gasoline in Bismarck is $3.63.
