MEDORA, N.D. (AP) — Forest Service district ranger Ron Jablonski is cautioning deer hunters about dry conditions on the Little Missouri National Grasslands in western North Dakota.

Jablonski says it was a good year for grass growth, but the grass is dried and frozen now and could burn easily if there's a spark and some wind.

He's asking hunters to be careful where they park their vehicles, because catalytic converters can ignite dry grass.

Friday is the first day of North Dakota's deer gun hunting season.
