It's Darwin Day - a celebration of "science and humanity." 

February 12th is the birthday of Charles Darwin, author of the "Origin of Species," the book most associated with advancing the theory of evolution.  Admirers of Darwin have set aside the day for celebration of the life and work of Darwin, and the world of science in general.
